AI Round-up: 8 September 2026

Mistral’s €3 billion funding round

Mistral raised a €3 billion Series D at a $24 billion valuation, which the company described as the largest equity round for a European technology business. Its announcement led X engagement and was independently covered by Reuters and The New York Times, while the funding strengthened the French lab’s position in Europe’s AI market.

Arm introduced an AI-native mobile compute platform alongside new graphics and physical-AI frameworks. OpenAI’s German wiki incident moved into a regulatory phase after the company filed an incident report with the European Commission, as wider scrutiny included a UN warning about existential AI risk and growing opposition to AI in schools. Infrastructure demand also surfaced in OpenAI’s Malaysian data-centre deal and South Korea’s expected power surge.
